MacRostie Green Statement

There is a new buzz about MacRostie Vineyards and Winery, and it is accented with different shades of GREEN.  We want to share with you our latest successes in decreasing our footprint on Mother Earth.

Over the last few years the team at MacRostie Winery has been working towards decreasing our energy and water usage.  Since 2005 we have decreased our water usage by 29% percent and our energy usage by 2%.  Though sometimes initial efforts result in small outcomes, we are continually researching and implementing practices that will further help to achieve our goals.

Another major area that we have addressed is waste disposal.  With the assistance from our local waste management, we have fine tuned our recycling program, now sending most of our solid waste to recycling plants instead of landfills.

Our commitment to decreasing our carbon footprint extends beyond energy, water, and waste reductions to supporting local growers and businesses.  The topography and diverse soil composition of the Carneros and Sonoma Coast have enabled us to select a vineyard portfolio within a ten-mile radius of the winery, thus decreasing transportation costs and vehicle emissions.  In addition to supporting local growers, we are fortunate enough to now receive our corks and wine labels from suppliers right across the street from the winery.
