Season's Greetings With harvest drawing to a close, and the New Year fast approaching, I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all the best in the season ahead. Like many of you, I will be gathering with family and friends over the holidays to relax, rejuvenate, and reflect. Though it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride, 2008 was ultimately a successful growing season, and an important year for us here at MacRostie. From a winegrowing standpoint, Wildcat Mountain Vineyard continued to evolve and earn acclaim as one of the Sonoma Coast's benchmark vineyards. At the same time, our wines garnered some wonderful praise from the press. Finally, 2008 was also an important year for us from an environmental standpoint—a year in which we challenged ourselves to be wiser, more responsible and more responsive. As one small example of our strengthened green commitment, we have replaced our printed newsletter with a more environmentally friendly e-newsletter. We hope you enjoy it! Happy Holidays,

New and Current Releases 2006 Wildcat Mountain Vineyard Chardonnay
Classic pale straw in color, with enticing aromas of clover honey and ripe pineapple. On the palate, it offers appealing tropical fruit, citrus, and spiced baked apple flavors. Dry and mouthfilling, this Chardonnay possesses sufficient structure to age for a few years, but is delicious now. 2004 Wildcat Mountain Vineyard Syrah
This lush and lovely Syrah begins with bright aromas of blueberry preserves and mocha java, while a bit of swirling brings out notes of black pepper and hints of wood smoke. On the palate it is full, fruity, rich and round, with a silky, smooth finish. 2005 Wildcat Mountain Vineyard Pinot Noir
From its dark, dense garnet color, to its multifaceted aromas of roasted cranberry and espresso—with just a hint of cola, this is a rich and expressive Pinot Noir. Full and satisfying in the mouth, it delivers a veritable explosion of ripe black cherry and baking chocolate flavors, all wrapped in subtle but notable toasty oak. 2007 Carneros Chardonnay
Beautiful pale straw gold in color, the aromas are reminiscent of lime oil and crème brulée. In the mouth there is lush baked apple and ripe mango, with a hint of cinnamon toast. It finishes with a good deal of weight, but is still light on its feet. 2006 Carneros Pinot Noir
Inhale and enjoy aromas of bright black cherry and allspice. Full-bodied, velvety, and luscious, the palate delivers all the ripe fruit promised by the nose, with just enough toasty vanilla oak to provide a soft supporting framework. 2005 Napa Valley Merlot
The nose is brimming with ripe black currant, vanilla, and spice box aromas that segue to a full, rich palate offering inviting blackberry jam and bittersweet chocolate layers. Perhaps the most complex and structured MacRostie Merlot to date, this lush and flavorful wine is enjoyable now, but built for a long life in the bottle.

New Saturday Tasting Hours We are excited to announce that, for the first time in two decades, we are opening MacRostie Winery to the public for regular drop-in Saturday tasting hours. Beginning November 1, our Sonoma winery will be open every Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Hosted in the heart of our working winery, this memorable tasting experience will feature a selection of four current release wines, as well as a rare library offering. The tasting fee is $10 per person, but we will be happy to waive this fee with the purchase of any MacRostie wine. Complimentary tasting for Wine Club Members. To learn more click here.
